About Waiting at the Well Ministries:

“And at midnight a cry was heard, ‘Behold the bridegroom is coming! Go out to meet him!’”  - Matt 25:6

Welcome to Waiting at the Well Ministries!   We exist to see the longing of our Bridegroom King fulfilled on the earth.  Over and over again in Scripture, Jesus exhorts us to “keep watch”—we believe that as we watch and wait in the place of prayer, we position ourselves for a greater revelation of God’s heart.  The more we behold Him, the more we become like Him—the more we become like Him the more His desires become our own.

It is His heart’s desire that we be made ready for His return.  We believe this is one of most urgent needs of the church in this hour.  Our desire is to see believers around the globe released into a true understanding of our highest identity as the “bride of Christ”—the object of His eternal affections—and that a true grasp of  this stunning revelation will cause us to gladly pour out our lives for His pleasure.  The more intimately we come to know Him, the more we will genuinely manifest the reality of Christ to a hungry and thirsty world—and the better equipped we will be to partner with Him in the fulfillment of His plans and desires.  The sooner the church functions in unity with His heart and with each other …the sooner He will receive His long awaited inheritance!

WATW Vision / Mission / Purpose:

Our ultimate vision is to see the Bride of Christ awakened to the longings of His heart and prepared for the reality of His coming.  Therefore, our mission is: To provide resources and opportunities for ministry that will awaken believers to a deeper intimacy with Jesus and into a fuller understanding of His heart’s desire for the individual, for Israel, and for His bride.

For the individual …

While it is true that God loves the world, it is also true that He loves the world one person at a time!  God loves individuals.  His individual thoughts for you outnumber the sand (Ps.139)—and all of His thoughts toward you are good!   Until we each individually experience a personal and profound revelation of God’s love—a revelation that goes far beyond “head knowledge”—we are not likely to endure to the end.  We will also never truly share or understand His unconditional and unrelenting love for others if we have not first experienced it for ourselves.  Therefore a large part of our ministry is to individuals with the sole hope and prayer of connecting their hearts with the heart of God.

In practical application some of the resources and ministry opportunities we offer include:

  • Appointments for personal prayer and prophetic ministry at our prayer room, The Well.*
  • Weekly ‘open’ times at The Well to provide a place set apart for those seeking a quiet place of communion with the Lord.*  (* See our page for “The Well” for more info.)
  • Prayer teams that “take the Well to the thirsty”
    • Locally—by setting up “prayer booths” at street fairs or other types of community events, and also by sending teams to other churches and groups as invited; and
    • Overseas—by participating in and/or organizing teams that minister both on the streets and at planned events with partner churches and organizations.
  • Classes at our location or yours, on topics such as prayer, prophecy, or other topics related to intimacy with Jesus, to help provide practical tools for drawing nearer to His heart.
  • Weekly devotions posted on our website written to encourage and provoke hearts toward Jesus.

For Israel

Israel holds a place in God’s heart reserved for no other.  When Solomon dedicated the temple in Jerusalem,  the Lord not only declared that His Name would be there forever, but also that His heart and His eyes would always be there (see 1 Kings 9:3).  While God certainly doesn’t love individuals in Israel any more than He loves individuals around the globe, God has set the land and people of Israel aside for His own special plans and purposes.  Many believers appreciate the rich biblical history of Israel and honor it as the land of our forefather, but Israel isn’t just the land of our past—it is the land of our present and future.   God’s unconditional covenant love toward Israel is so deep and profound that He binds His literal return to the earth to Israel’s acknowledgement of Him as King and Messiah (Matt.23:39).  Those who long for His appearing cannot help but also long for the restoration and salvation of Israel since these desires are so deeply intertwined in the heart of our Beloved.

Unfortunately, to a large degree the church in the west is blind to God’s heart’s cry for Israel.  However, we believe that as many draw closer to the heart of Jesus—more and more hearts will begin to “hear” His longing for Israel. Therefore, a significant amount of our time and resources are directed toward Israel itself and also toward awakening the church to her God ordained privilege and responsibility to stand with and bless Israel.  These include:

  • Specific times of prayer set aside to pray not only for Israel, but also for the church to have a right revelation of, and relationship to, Israel.
  • Coordinating prayer trips to Israel with the intention of positioning believers for a greater glimpse His heart for His chosen people and land.
  • Partnering with other prayer ministries in Israel
  • Teaching/sharing on God’s heart for Israel with interested local churches and groups.
  • Financial support to individuals and ministries that serve both the poor in Israel and Jewish believers.

For His bride…

As much as God’s heart burns for each individual and for Israel, His ultimate longing is that we will be “brought to complete unity” and that we be with Him where He is (see John 17).  In Rev.19 there is a glimpse of the unfathomably joyous celebration that will occur at the “wedding of the Lamb” when His bride has finally made herself ready.  From the beginning He created us in His own image and it will take every tribe, every tongue, and every nation; Jew and Gentile; male and female, to reflect His own heart and character—and to be the bride He has desired since the beginning.  When our hearts are finally brought to complete unity with His in this longing, the Spirit and the bride will say “Come!” and He will finally receive His inheritance from among all the nations of the earth.  Since we desire to partner with Jesus in the desires of His heart, we want to position ourselves as a “house of prayer for all nations.”   It is our inheritance to be His inheritance and absolutely everything we do is intended keep the glorious reality of our Bridegroom’s imminent return continually before our hearts.

WATW Core Values and Beliefs

Intimacy

“One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.”
- Psalm 27:4

We desire to live and model the “one thing” of Psalm 27:4 and Luke 10:42 by passionately seeking after the heart of our Bridegroom King and taking the time to sit at His feet.  We recognize that without this “one thing” as the core reality and priority of our existence, everything else we do will be futile. Therefore we place great value upon taking the time to develop genuine intimacy with Jesus. We believe that before regularly ministering to others we should first minister to Him by simply spending time in His presence and responding as He leads.

Jesus said the greatest commandment was to “Love the Lord your God will all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matt 22:37).  He went on to say, “And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’” (Matt.22:39).  In our sincere desire to serve the Lord, we sometimes inadvertently place the second commandment above the first.  WATW Ministries places a very high value upon keeping the first commandment in first place and believe that as we do, the second commandment will follow naturally. As we dwell in the Lord’s presence, gaze upon His beauty, and seek after Him in sincerity - our hearts begin to burn with the things on His heart, thus providing a genuine and lasting basis for not only loving God, but also for loving others and serving as He leads.

Integrity

We want to lay hold of absolutely everything the Lord has for us, but we only want what is real. Therefore we greatly value authenticity in all forms of worship and service to Him, as well as in our interactions with each other.  We desire a genuine encounter with Jesus—not merely a temporary experience.  We fully affirm the present day ministry of the Holy Spirit and believe all gifts of the Spirit are available and operational in the church today.  We place a high value on Spirit led ministry and will not reject any genuine manifestation of His Spirit; however, we also believe we are to “test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thes.5:21).

We also greatly value authenticity in relationships and desire to foster an environment of genuine love and transparency where it is safe to be real—regardless of past or present brokenness.  We recognize that each of us are “works in progress” and desire to first honestly examine our own hearts so we can relate to one another in a spirit of meekness and love.

If we value integrity in our expressions of worship and in our ministry to Him and each other, we believe it will ultimately carry over into every other area of our lives: “And whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” - Col. 3:17

Intentionality

Choice determines whether or not we fulfill our God given destiny - not chance. We believe that fulfilling God’s highest dreams and desires for our lives will never happen by accident, therefore we value being highly intentional in choosing to “run in such a way as to win the prize” (1 Cor.9:24).

We want to be very purposeful in seeking the Lord in prayer, fasting, and in the giving of our time and resources.  We strongly oppose legalism of any kind and discourage anyone from imposing these disciplines or any other type of “works” upon themselves or others as a means of being approved by God or man.  However, we also recognize the need to continually and purposefully position our hearts before Him and recognize that we daily choose “whom we will serve” (Josh 24:15).  The battle isn’t to pray enough, fast enough, serve enough, or give enough - the battle is to remain fixed on the beauty of Jesus despite the distractions of the world (Heb.12:1-2).  Therefore we encourage a completely voluntary yet purposeful participation in disciplines that position us for a greater revelation of His heart.
